Somewhere in Eastern China (mid-spring 2012)... Hacking the sparse cover with a Majorcraft Day's DC662MH (All pictures by Lurevision, Shanghai, China).

It was mid-spring in China. Then, it was spinnerbaiting season over there. The fact was, though the lake was scenic on every angle, I've got no time to admire any of those as my eyes were set on locating the next weed cover ahead. Well, that's what you got to do if you're fishing without electronics. In a way, it's like sight fishing but somewhat different.

My preferred spinnerbaiting setup (Majorcraft Day's 662MH). No big bass this time, but they are there in numbers.

When it comes to spinnerbaiting duties abroad (and in the UK), I can be rest assured that my Majorcraft Day's DC 662MH will keep me covered on the equipment front. Well, in fact the rod is designed to handle baits such as Texas-rigs, jigs, small swimbaits and spinnerbaits. But, in my opinion, it excels in the spinnerbaiting department. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with a 'Regular Fast' action spinnerbait rod. It handles spinnerbaits from 1/4 to 3/4 oz weights superbly.

Despite being a two-piece model, strike detection isn't too far off one-piece equivalent models. It casts and pitches well and I can fish with it all day long without feeling the strain on my arms at the end of the day. To me, it's one of my favorite travel rods. Over the years, I've fished with quite a few two-piece casting rods and without a doubt, Majorcraft makes some of the best two-piece rods on the market.

A decent size Chinese largemouth on a 1/4 oz spinnerbait.

And finally, just to remind myself, it's winter here in England and it's time for me to go out in search of the perch in the cold and rain. Until next time, thanks for reading and keep fishing.
