Titanis bass fishing (South-Western France Part 5)

This is my second bass fishing article for R&L magazine (the article was published September 2011).

Bass fishing in highly pressurized waters in Toulouse, France.

One of the good size bass on a flick shake 4"senko.

Moving on from the hills in the scenic Lot region of the previous outing, we were scheduled to fish at one of the public lakes in the outskirts of Toulouse. Geographically speaking, I’ve no idea where I was back then but that wasn’t the main concern. The bass fishing was what mattered. My contact in Toulouse, David Mailland had reminded me to keep my expectations low considering that fact that it’s one of the most highly pressurised bass lakes in the region. But on that very day, we were the only anglers there!

The quality of the water was excellent. Polarized glasses are optional.

The lure of the day was the flick shake senko of which performed really well in the gin clear shallow waters. Although we did not catch any big ones (50cm over), the small bass were practically everywhere and they were hitting the senko from all over. The quality of the water was surprisingly good too. You don’t even need polarized glasses to see through most parts of the lake.

Where have all the big fish gone?

Apart from bass, we could see bluegills and most of all, the abundance in crayfish. We decided to do some crayfish fishing before we called it a day and guess what, we could have caught loads if we’d spend more time doing so.
