A blog about multi-species lure fishing and life in the U.K and abroad and a little bit more. Always believe in lures! (TheFishingboy@gmail.com)

Just so so…

Sometimes, you just got to go with the flow. Even if it means going against it...

I don't remember seeing a fallen tree? A nice spot but conditions were not that good.

That was how I’d describe the weekend’s fishing. I could have caught a few more but it was one of those days when fishing kind of felt one-sided. In all, the fish seemed to respond to reaction baits but their usual level of aggression wasn't there.

And as soon as I switched to bottom contact baits, there came a few hits but none of those felt committed. Surprisingly, it didn’t take long for me to land a perch, followed by an unexpected decent size one. Both were caught on a 3” YoMama craw (one of my most trusted perch fishing bait). Fishing then slowed considerably but that was kind of expected. As far as things were concerned, for a slow day, it didn’t look too bad.

A decent size 30+ cm perch on a 3" YoMama craw. I was glad to have caught the fish on my unused Palm Elua rod.

Not a big one but it was a hard fighter, even on 12 lb fluorocarbon line.

Despite the less than ideal weather, I thought I'd give it another try. So once again, I was back in action in the late afternoon at this new stretch somewhere upstream. Although the conditions there looked rather good, the boat traffic there was terrible. A small but hard fighting pike was the best that I could produce. And before I'd even had the chance to catch some more, it rained really hard and we had to call it a day.

Looking at the forecast, it appears that the British Isles is experiencing a series of low pressure weather system with multiple cold fronts. Weather or not it will prolong until the next weekend remains a question to be answer…

Fishing anyone? Not when this is the forecast (Source:http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/).
