Total cold front knockout

From Nice Fish! Distribution UK, the Sunline Momentum 4x4 Hybrid 8 Strand High Grade PE waiting to go on the water.

These days, choosing a fishing line can be an overwhelming task. In the past, it’s either mono or braid and it can be as simple as that. But, even if you’ve made your mind up which to go for, there’s still plenty to choose from. With braided lines becoming ever increasingly popular for many applications in freshwater fishing, gone are the days where you have PowerPro as the only top choice.

Over the past few months till now, I’ve been fishing jigs and spinnerbaits with the Sunline Superbraid PE#2 in lime green colour. Mainly due to the adverse conditions of late, sadly I’ve yet to come to any solid conclusions of the line. Lately, whilst in the process of planning for an upcoming trip, the Sunline Momentum 4x4 (from Nice Fish! Distribution UK) came to mind. Reading the label on the packaging, the Momentum 4x4 is actually a hybrid 8-strand braided line made of slightly different material which is suppose to give it a specific gravity of 1.05. I guess I’ll be saving this one for my upcoming trip for sure. So, stay tuned for review of the Momentum 4x4.

The Majorcraft Day's DC-682MG, one the very few 2-piece fiberglass cranking rods on the market. Length: 6'-8", Line: 10-16 lb, Lure: 1/4 - 3/4 oz.

In addition to that, finally, my Majorcraft Day’s (DC-682MG) cranking stick is out of the storage tube after months in hibernation. Frankly, it’s been ages since I’ve fished with a proper cranking stick after a brief stint with the new G.Loomis GL2 last spring. Being fibreglass rod, the first thing you’ll notice on the DC-682MG is its blank diameter which is huge compared to graphite rods. While I didn’t actually have the chance to hook on any fishing during its inaugural on the water test, it will most probably serve as my primary cranking stick for an upcoming trip. All I can say, based on those few short hours yesterday, the rod cast well and it should compliment my arsenal of Majorcraft Zoner Cranks.

And now, the bad new for the week ahead... primarily low surface pressure with lots of cold fronts. Some weather for sure!!!

As for the weekend, it was a total cold front knockout for sure. There wasn’t even a bite on anything or anywhere. The weather outlook was and will be terrible for the week ahead. It’s almost April now and the temperature’s barely above freezing. Sometimes, I really wonder if there’s ever such thing is spring or summer in the UK.

Until the next week, fish hard, fish well and take care.
