Servicing a timeless classic: The Team Daiwa-Z 105H

IMG_8525.jpg
My trusty, reliable and dependable TEAM DAIWA-Z 105H with I'ZE FACTORY long-cast spool due for service and maintenance.

No doubt, the TEAM DAIWA-Z is one of the finest reels from Daiwa Japan. This longstanding flagship bass reel had actually put Daiwa ahead of most of its rivals for years on end. When it was launched in 2000, I was just a college student and the reel with its hefty price tag was simply beyond my reach. And, when I finally acquired one years later, it had to be the 105H model variant.

Like most Daiwa baitcasting reels, servicing and maintenance is simply a bliss. The reel strips down pretty easily. For regular maintenance purposes, what I normally do is to strip it down so that I can have access to the bearings. After that, I'd put one to two drops of light lubricant onto each bearing, check the main gear and all moving parts for wear. To wrap up the job, I'd clean the level wind and make sure it is free of residuals. Well, I guess that's about all there is for a regular maintenance. If you fish regularly, make sure that you service your reels regularly and breakdowns will almost be a thing of the past.

As always, thanks for reading.
