Flood report (Part 2: A blast from the recent past)

If you live in England, you just got to have to take whatever the weather throws at you. If you're a fisherman living in the UK who gets put off easily by all these bad weather, chances are in terms of fishing, you're most likely not do well. Saying that, while nothing has so far dampen my enthusiastic approach towards all things fishing, the floods over the recent Christmas holidays did make me feel envious of all you anglers living elsewhere where the weather is slightly better.

Some weeks back then, conditions didn't look good over in Guildford on Christmas day '12. I arrived just to find floods everywhere along the river. All the usual spots were basically 'unfishable', no thanks to the flood waters. As for me, I tried just about everything, but I sort of knew what the outcome was going to be like. Well, for this blog post, I'll just have to let the pictures do the talking for now because I just don't have anything positive to say.

By the way, as if the conditions weren't bad enough, water levels rose by another half a meter the following morning. Will there be an end to all these? We would soon find out.

This is a stretch of water where a friend of mine used to catch big perch (over 40 cm) on a regular basis.

Not much different here anyway because the flood was everywhere.

I guess they were right, or should it be 'No Fish' instead?

The flooded landscape surely made things looked different.

Nobody's home this time around.

Wild fungus above the flood.

Back then, it was more like the 'Yellow River' than the Wey.
