Wacky or not?

How can a 'carp' fishing specific hook get it so right as a wacky rig worm hook? I found them selling in a tackle shop in Malaysia a few years back but didn't actually get the chance to use it. Compared to some other wacky rig specific hooks I've used before, this on works amazingly on a 3" and 4" senko worm (for larger senkos, I'm not sure). The basics are all just right. IT's made of high carbon steel, the point itself is very sharp, the gap is just wide enough for a 3" and 4" senko, the shank is not too long and the barb is just so nicely shaped. I wished they make a weedless version. That would have been nearly perfect. Although this may not be the perfect wacky rig hook in the market, but it's been my favourite so far and it's priced reasonably. A pack of 10 hooks (Fire Eagle Carp-R) cost less than $1.00. Whereas, a pack of 5 hooks (Gamakatsu Wacky) would set you approx $3.00 from www.PLAT.co.jp (excluding shipping and handling).

Simply the best? Maybe yes, maybe not, but for a wacky rig hook, probably one of the best that I've tried so far. Price to performance ratio is just excellent. Costs about 1/3 of the price of most Japanese wacky rig specific hooks.

Just one of the small largemouth bass caught using the Fire Eagle 'carp' hook when I was in the South of France. (Hook shown here used with a 4" black senko worm)
