The right pitch?

Postspawn bass fishing in Eastern China with the Majorcraft Beneyro BNC-682H.

When the situation calls for it, the Majorcraft Beneyro (Basic Series, model BNC-682H) never disappoints. In my opinion, for a 2-piece jig rod which travels and performs well on the water, price to performance-wise it is one solid package out of the box. As I've mentioned before, Majorcraft makes some of the best 2-piece lure rods out there. And although it's not the most sensitive 2-piece jig rod there is, if you fish with good quality superlines, you're more than covered in that department.

I caught my first bass in China on a Beneyro BNC-682H jig rod near a boulder pile behind a marina.

Being a very stiff rod with a stiff backbone, it may or may not be your typical bass fishing jig rod. As for me, I usually prefer a stiff rod when I am fishing for bass with jigs even in sparse cover. In fact, the jigs that I was using (1/4 oz to 3/8 oz) weren't heavy enough to load the tip (I prefer it that way). But, paired with the right reel spooled with the right line, it pitches 1/4 oz stuffs amazingly. In fact, it can even be used as a 'finesse' flipping rod when heavy cover takes over in the heat of summer in Eastern China.

The Majorcraft Beneyro BNC-682H rod comes with a dedicated storage sleeve.

So, back in the real world of fishing in the UK (or some call it coarse fishing), is this rod even relevant? Pike fishing with jigs? Can do, but not really. In fact, I use it as a swimbait rod and it handles anything from 1/2 oz to 2 oz with ease on heavy braided lines. In a way and in my opinion after using it for about a year, the BNC-682H is somewhat a jig and 'small swimbait' rod all in one convenient package. And as they say: "Good things often comes in pairs." No doubt this has got to be one of those.

Split EVA grips and Fuji ECS reel seats are found on every Beneyro casting sticks.

As a final word, if you're looking for a swimbait rod for pike fishing, look no further than that BNC-682H. Place an order for one at your local dealer. Thanks for reading and keep fishing.
